Curious about prenatal yoga?

  • You can start at all times but we recommend joining during the second trimester.

  • Movement is necessary during pregnancy to stay healthy and fit and prepare for bodily changes and birth. The key is to figure out what kind of movement serves you best.

Yoga movements are great to help with blood circulation and fluid retention which are common during pregnancy. Soft stretches help with working on tension and tight muscles, and strengthening poses help with protecting the lower back and to correct the posture, for example.

Breathing exercises can be the right tool for you when dealing with labour, birth and even breastfeeding.

Relaxation soothes a tired body and a stressful mind.

  • Every body is different and that also applies to pregnant bodies.

You can practice yoga as long as you feel like it, but make sure to listen to your body and to your needs. Perhaps you need to slow down, focus on soft stretches and relaxation when the due date approaches.

If you start to experience any pain consult your midwife or doctor.

  • The room will be warm (around 30’ degrees) which helps your muscles to warm up, relax and loosen up.

However we will not be focussing on working up sweat, instead the warmth will create comfortable conditions for you to practice yoga and relaxation.

  • We recommend wearing dry fit sportswear that you feel comfortable in and you can move easily in. Leggings and a sports bra is a great outfit.

Bring a water bottle with you if you like.

  • Yes, it is safe to practice during pregnancy in general. However, if you are in doubt or have any issues, talk to your midwife or doctor first.

If you have already been practicing yoga, there shouldn’t be a reason not to continue. Inform the instructor before the class if you are pregnant so they can provide the proper guidance and adjustments.
