Our concept

Welcome to Dóttir Hot Yoga, a Copenhagen yoga community concept and safe space with two locations — one in the beautiful harbor of Sydhavn, Copenhagen, and the other in the heart of Nordhavn. Here at Dóttir Hot Yoga, we invite you to step inside our studios and leave all your thoughts and worries outside. Our goal is to provide our students with a healthy, welcoming community that will not only give an active boost to your body but also revitalize the mind.

"I created Dóttir Hot Yoga as a safe space where people can feel that they belong. I wanted to build a community that is curious and open to getting to know themselves better. From my experience, when you practice yoga, you are present in a very special way. You are grounded within yourself. And when you feel grounded, you also become better at handling all the ups and downs of life. It gives you the strength to handle anything!"

More About Us

Infrared heaters

Our studios are heated using Infrared heaters, the most beneficial heating method for your yoga practice. Infrared heaters improve skin quality, boost the immune system, detox the body, and increase circulation. As soon as you step inside our yoga shalas, you will notice the difference with this heating method. You will feel the heat as it soaks deep into your skin, loosens up your muscles, and relaxes your body. It is such a subtle heat, until you start to move in it and it begins to warm the body from the inside first, causing you to sweat, detoxing and cleansing your body of toxins.

The little extras

We believe the little things matter and we strive to make your experience at our studios something worth coming back for.
At the end of each yoga class, you can look forward to an essential oil-infused frozen towel placed over your forehead to cool down and relax, and a refreshing fresh pressed juice served in the lounge.
At our studios we also carry a small selection of sustainable yoga and self care products for sale, such as yoga mats & accessories, yoga wear, skin care, incense, candles and cold drinks.

Unique locations

One of the things that make our studios unique is how close they are located to the canals. You always have the opportunity to cool off after your hot yoga practice with a quick dip or a swim in the sea. No matter the season, we have our little traditions to sometimes jump in the water together after an intense hot yoga practice.
Just outside our Sydhavn studio, there is a beautiful and secluded swimming spot with cozy docks where you can take a dip, relax and meditate after a yoga class. And in Nordhavn, the canal is right around the corner.

Meet the Team

  • Karen Halldórsdóttir

Yoga Teacher, Founder of Dóttir &
lead trainer in 200h Teacher Training

    💌 karen@dottirhotyoga.com

Karen is Yoga Alliance certified in 200h Hatha, Vinyasa and Yin, 300h Advanced Teacher Training, 50h Rocket Vinyasa and 50h Dynamic Spiral Yin Fascial Yoga Teacher Training.
“There were multiple things that led me on the path of yoga but the main one was dealing with anxiety. Through breath and meditation, between the masculine & feminine energy, I learned how to take control over it. The most challenging period in my life was when I needed to meet myself - where I had to let go of my armour and find the sensitivity in myself. I thrive to see other yoga practitioners showing up on their mats and dedicating their time for self practice.

Where we meet without any judgment.
Where we balance the polarities within.
Where we arrive in our own safe space within. This simple act of being and accepting.

I created Dóttir as a space for others, to arrive, connect and explore what is within. Where you can tap into your own unique rhythm. A space of community so you can find the energy you need.”

“Yoga teacher training was a beautiful new start for me, where I had the opportunity to discover that some perceived weaknesses were gradually transformed into my greatest strengths, with the correct mentors and tools in place. Seeing the unbelievable progress and incredible healing of former injuries due to the varied and very targeted classes, plus gaining new skills that I never had the imagination to visualise was a possibility, really encouraged my dedication and inspired me to share with others what I learned.
